YT27 Rock Drills: Preparation Steps for Optimal PerformanceExploring the Pneumatic Rock Drill: An In-Depth Insight
2. Safety first! Tap on the roof near your drilling face to check for any loose or unstable rocks. This precaution is crucial for maintaining a safe working environment at the face and the adjacent second gang.
3. The working surface at the shell hole location must be pre-flattened to prevent slippage or displacement during rock drilling operations. This preparatory step is vital for ensuring precision and safety.
4. Absolutely no dry drilling! Commit to wet drilling practices by activating the water supply before engaging the wind. When halting operations, turn off the wind before the water. Upon commencing a hole, start at a low speed and only escalate to full speed after reaching a sufficient depth.
5. For safety reasons, drillers must refrain from wearing gloves during drilling activities to ensure maximum control and safety.
6. While using the air leg for hole drilling, maintain an appropriate stance and position. Avoid applying body weight for pressure, and never stand in front of the rock drill beneath the work brazing rod to prevent injuries from potential fractures.
7. If you detect any unusual noises or irregular water discharge during rock drilling, immediately halt the machine. Investigate the underlying cause, resolve any issues, and only proceed once everything is clear and secure.
8. When retracting the rock drill or swapping out the brazing rod, operate the rock drill at a slow pace. Stay vigilant regarding the position of the rock drill braze to ensure a smooth and secure process.
