Before Using the Rock Drill: Essential Checklist for Optimal Performance
1. Ensure all components—including the rock drill, bracket, or rock drill cart—remain intact and are adequately lubricated. Confirm that both the wind and water pathways are unobstructed and that all connection joints are securely fastened to guarantee flawless operation.
2. Conduct a thorough inspection of the roof near the work face for any live or loose rocks. Address these hazards promptly to ensure a safe working environment before commencing drilling.
3. Ensure the working surface is completely flat to prevent any slippage or displacement during the drilling process, ensuring both safety and precision.
4. Always employ water in drilling operations to avoid the risks of dry drilling. Begin operations with water, followed by wind, adhering to this sequence for smooth operation start and stop. Initiate drilling at a low speed and transition to full speed only after reaching a stable depth.
5. For safety, drillers must refrain from wearing gloves when operating the drill to maintain optimal control and prevent accidents.
6. Maintain a vigilant focus on your standing posture and position while utilizing the air leg. Refrain from pressurizing with your body and avoid standing directly in front of the rock drill to prevent injury from potential brazing rod breakage.
7. Should you encounter any abnormal sounds or unexpected water discharge, immediately cease operation. Inspect the equipment and resolve any issues to ensure safe resumption of drilling activities.
8. When retracting the rock drill or replacing the brazing rod, proceed carefully and slowly. Be acutely aware of the brazing rod's position to execute the operation safely and efficiently.
