Preparation Steps Before Operating the Rock Drill:
1. Carefully inspect every component, including the rock drill, corresponding brackets, or rock drill cart. Ensure each part is in perfect condition and is thoroughly lubricated. Confirm that wind and water pathways are unblocked and secure all connection joints firmly.
2. Conduct a comprehensive inspection of the roof near the working area for any live or unstable rocks. Resolve any identified issues before proceeding with operations.
3. Verify that the working surface is levelled before commencing drilling activities to prevent any slippage or displacement that could compromise drilling efficiency.
4. Always incorporate water during the drilling process to prevent dry drilling. Initiate the operation with water followed by wind; when ceasing operation, reverse the sequence. Start drilling at a reduced speed and accelerate to full speed once a satisfactory depth is attained.
5. Operators should refrain from wearing gloves while handling the drill to maintain optimal control and safety.
6. Maintain a proper standing posture and position when using the air leg. Avoid applying pressure with your body and never stand directly in front of the rock drill to eliminate the risk of injury from potential brazing rod breakage.
7. If unusual noises or water discharge are detected, halt the machine immediately. Conduct a thorough inspection, rectify the problem, and only then continue with the operation.
8. When retracting the rock drill or changing the brazing rod, operate the drill at a slow pace, paying close attention to the position of the brazing rod to avoid any mishaps.
