Guidelines for YT27 Rock Drills: Preparation StepsUnderstanding the Pneumatic Rock Drill: A Guide
2. Conduct a preliminary safety check by tapping the roof near the working face to detect any live or loose rocks. Address any loose materials on the roof and in the vicinity of the working area to ensure safety.
3. Ensure a stable starting point by flattening the surface at the intended drill hole location. This prevents any slippage or displacement of the shell hole during the drilling process.
4. Always use wet drilling techniques. It is imperative to initiate water flow prior to activating the wind, and conversely, turn off the wind before stopping the water. Start drilling at a low speed and gradually increase to full speed once a sufficient depth is achieved.
5. Safety first: drill operators must refrain from wearing gloves while operating the machinery to prevent accidents and ensure a firm grip on equipment.
6. When employing the air leg for drilling, maintain a proper stance and position. Refrain from using the body for additional pressure and avoid standing in front of the rock drill under the working brazing rod to avert injury from potential rod breakage.
7. If any unusual sounds or water discharges are detected during operation, halt the drilling immediately for inspection. Identify and resolve the issue before resuming to ensure a smooth and safe drilling process.
8. When withdrawing the rock drill or replacing the brazing rod, operate the rock drill at a slow pace. Carefully monitor the position of the brazing rod to ensure precise handling and safety.
