1. Ensure all components, including the rock drill, bracket, or rock drill cart, are intact and thoroughly lubricated for optimal performance. Verify smooth airflow and water pathways, and confirm that all connection joints are securely fastened.
2. Conduct a thorough inspection of the roof near the working face for any live or loose rocks. Resolve any issues before commencing operations to ensure safety.
3. It is crucial to maintain a flat working surface prior to drilling, as this prevents any slippage or displacement during operation.
4. Always drill with water to prevent dry drilling. Initiate with water, followed by wind when operating, and reverse the sequence upon stopping. Begin at a low speed, transitioning to full speed only after reaching a certain depth.
5. For safety reasons, operators should refrain from wearing gloves while using the drill.
6. Observe proper standing posture and positioning when utilizing the air leg. Avoid pressurizing with your body and refrain from standing directly in front of the rock drill to avert injury from potential broken brazing rods.
7. Should any abnormal sounds or water discharge occur, promptly cease operation, inspect the equipment, and resolve the issue before continuing use.
8. When retracting the rock drill or changing the brazing rod, proceed slowly and remain alert to the position of the brazing rod to ensure safe handling.
