YT27 Rock Drills: Essential Pre-Use GuidelinesUnderstanding the Pneumatic Rock Drill
2. Conduct thorough checks by tapping on the roof near the work area. Assess for any loose or unstable rocks on the roof or second gang close to the working face, and perform necessary stabilization.
3. Prepare the working surface by leveling the shell hole location in advance, ensuring a stable area before commencing rock drilling. This precaution helps prevent slippage or displacement of the shell hole.
4. Dry drilling is strictly prohibited. Always perform wet rock drilling: activate water flow before air pressure when operating, and reverse the order when stopping. Initially, run at low speed, then transition to full speed once the desired depth is reached.
5. Drill operators must refrain from wearing gloves during drilling to maintain optimal safety and control.
6. When utilizing the air leg for drilling, maintain proper posture and positioning. Avoid using body weight for pressure and never stand directly in front of the rock drill beneath the working brazing rod to prevent injury from potential tool breakage.
7. If you encounter unusual sounds or irregular water discharge during drilling, cease operations immediately. Inspect the machinery to identify and resolve any issues before resuming.
8. When retracting the rock drill or replacing the brazing rod, operate the rock drill at a slow pace and remain mindful of the positioning of the brazing tool.
